Actress Kareena Kapoor is loosening her purse strings to light up lives of poor people in a village in central India.
The residents of Chanderi village in Madhya Pradesh have a reason to cheer. For Bollywood beauty Kareena Kapoor has donated a sum of Rs. 3 lakh to help the villagers set up a solar energy plant.
Kareena witnessed the plight of the villagers, mostly weavers, when she visited it during the promotional campaign of her movie 3 Idiots. At that time, the villagers, though poor had shown tremendous hospitality by giving her an exquisite black sari with golden embroidery.
What moved Kareena further was the fact that the village has no electricity and the weavers work at night in candle light.
So, the actress has now donated Rs. 3 lakh that will be used to set up a solar energy plant to provide electricity to the village in the coming months. Since the amount may not be enough, Kareena is learnt to be talking with other Bollywood celebrities to donate as well.
Atta girl!
